Education

The 21st Century learning environment has changed. Students are no longer restricted to purely traditional ‘classroom’ environments.

More flexible approaches are now being considered and implemented to accommodate the changing attitudes, circumstances and demographics of today’s students. It is apparent that students need to be able to access a variety of learning resources, irrespective of their particular learning needs, whether in the classroom, at home or on the move.

The use of Information Communication Technology (ICT) and Information Learning Technology (ILT) has the potential to transform the education experience and learning environment in the classroom and beyond, combined with the Learning and Skills Council’s (LSC) programme to construct ‘world class buildings’ to replace those environments that are considered both outdated and inappropriate.

In the increasingly competitive education service sector, there is a fundamental need to consider new and innovative methods of achieving academic excellence.
“Through our contract with Capita IT Services a service will be developed that will not only support us through a period of significant change and development but, more crucially, will deliver a more flexible, modern learning environment for staff and students alike. This project will make a significant contribution to the development of education, skills and future prosperity in Birmingham and the local area.”

This situation has arisen as a virtue of schools, colleges and universities having to adopt a flexible approach regarding the delivery of student services, which include the need to:

  • Meet and exceed the increasing demands of current and potential student bodies
  • Support students of varying ages and differing learning styles
  • Comply with additional regulatory requirements imposed by central government and associated funding bodies
  • Attract, retain and ensure the performance of the student population to ensure ongoing commercial viability

“We believe that Capita’s innovation and creativity will provide our new college campus with a totally flexible learning environment with a fully integrated infrastructure at its core to support our diverse and dynamic curriculum needs - both now and into the future. We expect our partnership with Capita to reduce our long term operational costs through energy saving, whilst providing students with the very latest technology in a stimulating and dynamic environment.”
