Director of Learning - Steve Smith
Current thinking: Steve believes that technology has a key role to play in a range of issues that are highly significant in education today - such as engaging parents, school design and the whole personalisation agenda. Steve’s passion is ICT’s role in future learning, and how new approaches can make technology more flexible and appropriate to education’s needs. Specialist subject: ICT in Education - particularly in respect of how technology can transform learning, teaching, management and administration. In this thought leadership role, Steve has been a contributor to a number of published articles in the education and technology press. Who is Steve? Steve entered teaching from the Forensic Science Service and taught Science in secondary schools. He served as a Sixth Form Tutor & Head of Science before moving to a Deputy Headship at Deacon’s School where he managed the Technology College Programme - one of first dozen specialist schools in UK. Steve joined The ICT industry as a Senior Education Consultant in 1995 working with many schools bidding for Specialist School status has served in Training, Business Development and Pre-sales Consultancy Director roles. Steve has delivered a great many presentations at BETT and other education technology conferences with regard to effective use of ICT in education, and served as a judge for the Becta ICT in Practice and ICT Excellence Awards.
